The Full form of CSD is Canteen stores Department. It is run under the surveillance of the ministry of defence, and it is available in all the primary military locations.
You will get a wide range of things starting from household equipment, kitchen utensils, and vehicles to sports accessories. It is a type of supermarket, which is only serviceable for the army persons of the country.
All the goods available in the CSD canteen are tax-free. The goods are purchased in bulk quantity and sold at very nominal rates. Due to no taxes on the goods, CSD prices are low compared to retail prices. Every year even without taxes, the canteen store department earns a considerable profit.

How much discount in CSD canteen?
The discount price in the CSD canteen is always below the market rates. However, the discount rate is nearly the same as that of wholesale rates in the regular market in some categories. If you don’t have a dependent card or canteen access, don’t worry; you can opt for Dmart or Vmart. The prices of the product in Dmart stores are nearly the same as CSD canteen.
How to purchase a car or bike from the CSD canteen?
You need an availability certificate for the car or bike you want to purchase at a CSD authorized dealer in your location. Next, you need to create a Demand Draft of the amount of payment & submit it along with the application form with the attached availability certificate at CSD depot.
The Demand Draft or RTGS should be made in the name of “Canteen Stores Department Public Account“.
Can I purchase a refrigerator from the CSD canteen?
Yes, you can purchase kitchen equipment from the canteen. Sometimes, the refrigerator you want to purchase is not available at the store. In such a situation, you have to pre-book the refrigerator along with the payment.
